SUMMARY OF LEGISLATION

1. LAWS ADOPTED BY THE STATES
(a) Extradition (Jersey) Law 200- (P.39/2004 - adopted 11.5.04)
This Law makes provision for extradition to and from Jersey.
(b) Prison (Amendment No.5) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.45/2004 - adopted 25.5.04)
This Law gives prison officers, whilst on duty, the same powers as members of the States of Jersey Police Force.
(c) Non-Contributory Pensions (Repeal) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.73/2004 - adopted 25.5.04)
This Law repeals the Non-Contributory Pensions (Jersey) Law 1954 and the Non-Contributory Pensions (Extension of Provisions) (Jersey) Law 1973.
(d) Social Security (Amendment No.17) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.75/2004 - adopted 25.5.04)
This Law imposes an additional contribution on an employer who fails to provide a schedule of contributions, and increases the penalty for an offence.
(e) Christmas Bonus (Amendment No.2) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.55/2004 - adopted 26.5.04)
This Law introduces an income limit for receipt of the Christmas bonus and provides for the States to set the amount of the bonus by Regulations.
(f) Waste Management (Jersey) Law 200- (P.88/2004 - adopted 8.6.04)
This Law regulates waste operations in Jersey, by licensing waste plants and registering waste carriers, and also regulates the import to, export from and transit through Jersey of waste.
(g) Privileges and Immunities (Diplomatic, Consular, etc.) (Amendment) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.86/2004 - adopted 8.6.04)
This Law enables the States to make Regulations conferring privileges, immunities and facilities on judges or members of international tribunals and related persons.
(h) Honorary Police (Parochial Domicile) (Amendment) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.89/2004 - adopted 8.6.04)
This Law enables a person who has served continuously in the Honorary Police of a parish, but who has moved out of the parish, to stand for re-election.
(i) Competition (Jersey) Law 200- (P.37/2004 - adopted 23.6.04)
This Law promotes competition in the provision of goods and services, by prohibiting abuse of market power and arrangements that hinder competition, and by requiring the approval of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority to certain mergers and acquisitions.
(j) Banking Business (Amendment No.4) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.110/2004 - adopted 30.6.04)
This Law enables a variable tariff of fees to be set for registration under the Banking Business (Jersey) Law 1991.
(k) Financial Services (Amendment No.2) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.111/2004 - adopted 30.6.04)
This Law makes new provision for the regulation of general insurance mediation business.
(l) Data Protection (Jersey) Law 200- (P.70/2004 - adopted 30.6.04)
This Law replaces the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 1987.
(m) Taxation (Implementation) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.122/2004 - adopted 7.7.04)
This Law enables the States to make Regulations implementing agreements regarding taxation which the States have authorized to be entered into by or on behalf of Jersey.

These Regulations make provision, consequential upon the Shipping (Jersey) Law 2002, to continue the Harbour Master’s power to regulate the time at which vessels berth in the harbour.
(b) Boats and Surf-Riding (Control) (Amendment No.26) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 41/2004 - in force 1.6.04)
These Regulations make provisions consequential upon the repeal and replacement of certain legislation by the Shipping (Jersey) Law 2002.
(c) Shops (Sunday Trading) (No.8) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 45/2004 - in force 26.5.04)
These Regulations enable jewellery to be sold on a Sunday pursuant to a trading permit.
(d) Community Provisions (Ship and Port Facility - Security) (Jersey) Regulations 2004

These Regulations give effect to Community provisions enhancing ship and port security.
(e) Public Employees (Contributory Retirement Scheme) (Existing Members) (Amendment No.7) (Jersey) Regulations 2004

These Regulations revise the rules for admission to the contributory retirement scheme for public employees.

These Regulations revise the rules for admission to the contributory retirement scheme for public employees.

These Regulations increase the penalties for certain offences connected with the airport.
(h) Unlawful Public Entertainments (Jersey) Regulations 2004

These Triennial Regulations re-enact the requirement to obtain the Bailiff’s permission for the holding of a public entertainment.
(i) Stamp Duties and Fees (No.3) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 75/2004 - in force 28.7.04)
These Regulations amend fees payable in respect of documents and transactions used in judicial proceedings, and related matters.
(j) Employment (Minimum Wage) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 89/2004 - will come into force on same day as Article 17 of the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003).
These Regulations specify the manner in which a person’s hourly rate of pay is to be determined for the purposes of applying the minimum wage.

This Order sets fees payable for an application for consent, and for variation of a consent, under Part III of the Housing (Jersey) Law 1949.
