SUMMARY OF LEGISLATION

1.      LAWS ADOPTED BY THE STATES

(a)           Drainage (Jersey) Law 200- (P.193/2003 - adopted 12.10.04)

This Law consolidates and revises the written laws relating to drainage, sewage and flood defences.

(b)           Road Traffic (Amendment No. 3) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.146/2004 - adopted 19.10.04)

This Law amends the provisions in the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956 regarding the raising of fees and charges.

(c)           The Law Society of Jersey Law 200- (P.162/2004 - adopted 2.11.04)

This Law provides for the incorporation of the Law Society and introduces disciplinary procedures for dealing with complaints against Jersey law practitioners.

(d)           States of Jersey Law 200- (P.124/2004 - adopted 16.11.04)

This Law replaces the States of Jersey Law 1966, abolishes the Committee system of the States and makes provision for the appointment of a Council of Ministers.

(e)           Public Employees (Retirement) (Validation and Amendment) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.192/2004 - adopted 24.11.04)

This Law deems the Public Employees (Retirement) (Jersey) Law 1967 to have come into force on 1.1.1968 and validates certain acts done under the Law since that date.

(f)            Planning and Building (Amendment) (Jersey) Law 200- (P.210/2004 - adopted 15.12.04)

This Law provides for appeals under the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002 to be determined by the Royal Court.

(a)           Licensing (Licence Fees) (Jersey) Regulations 2004

These Regulations increase fees for the grant or renewal of a licence.

(b)           Health Insurance (Medical Benefit) (Amendment No. 59) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 111/2004 - in force 1.10.04)

These Regulations increase the amount of health insurance medical benefit.

(c)           Fire Precautions (Designated Premises) (Amendment No. 2) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 112/2004 - in force 5.10.04)

These Regulations update references to descriptions of nursing and residential homes which require a fire certificate.

(d)           Extradition (Designated Territories) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 113/2004 - in force 1.10.04)

These Regulations specify countries and territories to which extradition from Jersey will normally be available.

(e)           Education (Revocation of Provided School) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 130/2004 - in force 9.11.04)

These Regulations removed Les Chênes School from the list of provided schools in Schedule 1 to the Education (Jersey) Law 1999.

(f)            Dogs (Licence Duty) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 134/2005 - in force 1.1.05)

These Regulations increased the fee for a dog licence.

(g)           Restriction on Smoking (Sales of Cigarettes to Children) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 136/2004 - in force 1.12.104)

These Regulations increase the age of young people to whom cigarettes may be sold from 16 to 18 years.

(h)           Police Procedures and Criminal Evidence (Jersey) Law 2003 (Amendment) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 138/2004 - in force 1.12.04, except Regulation 7, which comes into force on the same day as Article 48 of the Police Procedures and Criminal Evidence (Jersey) Law 2003)

These Regulations amend the Police Procedures and Criminal Evidence (Jersey) Law 2003 consequentially upon the repeal of the Prevention of Terrorism (Jersey) Law 1996 and its replacement by the Terrorism (Jersey) Law 2002.

(i)            Harbours (Amendment No. 38) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 154/2004 - in force 1.1.05)

These Regulations increase fees payable in respect of goods left on a harbour.

(j)            Family Allowances (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 155/2004 - in force 4.1.05)

These Regulations increase rates of family allowance.

(k)           Income Tax (Prescribed Limit and Rate) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 158/2004 - in force 1.1.05)

These Regulations prescribe a limit and rate for the purposes of Article 135A of the Income Tax (Jersey) Law 1961, as amended.

(l)            Electricity Link with France (Protection of Submarine Cables) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 159/2004 - in force 14.12.04)

These Regulations prohibit certain activities within the territorial sea for the purpose of protecting the submarine electricity cable links with France.

(m)          Health Insurance (Medical Benefit) (Amendment No. 60) (Jersey) Regulations 2004
(R&O 160/2004 - in force 1.1.05)

These Regulations increase rates of benefit for specified medical services.

(a)           Employment (Minimum Wage) (Jersey) Order 2004

This Order sets a minimum wage.

(b)           Police Procedures and Criminal Evidence (Codes of Practice) (Jersey) Order 2004
(R&O 143/2004 - in force 1.12.04)

This Order gives effect to Codes of Practice to which police officers and other persons exercising powers under the Police Procedures and Criminal Evidence (Jersey) Law 2003 must have regard.

(c)           Royal Court Rules 2004
(R&O 161/2004 - in force 1.2.05)

These Rules replace the Royal Court Rules 1992.
