Road Traffic (Public Parking Places – Charges) (Amendment No. 5) (Jersey) Order 2021

THE MINISTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE makes this Order under Articles 59 and 84 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956[1] –

1        Interpretation

This Order amends the Road Traffic (Public Parking Places – Charges) (Jersey) Order 2017[2].

2        Article 1 (interpretation) amended

In Article 1(2) the definition “low emission vehicle” is deleted.

3        Article 2 (charges for parking units) amended

In Article 2 –

(a)     in paragraph (1) for “82.86 pence” there is substituted “83.81 pence”;

(b)     for paragraphs (2) and (3) there is substituted –

“(2)    However, the charge for each parking unit is 41.90 pence in the case of an electric vehicle or plug in hybrid electric vehicle except where paragraph (3) applies.

(3)     In the case of an electric vehicle or plug in hybrid electric vehicle first registered in Jersey after 31st January 2018, no charge is payable for parking in a public parking place during the period of 12 months immediately after the date the vehicle is first registered in Jersey.

(4)     Paragraphs (2) and (3) apply to an electric vehicle or a plug in hybrid electric vehicle only if, when it is parked, there is displayed in it a document approved by the Minister for the purposes of this Order indicating that it is an electric vehicle or a plug in hybrid electric vehicle.”.

4        Article 3 (charges for season tickets) amended

In Article 3 –

(a)     in paragraph (1) for “£133.81” there is substituted “£135.24”;

(b)     in paragraph (2) for “£66.90” there is substituted “£67.62”;

(c)     for paragraphs (3) and (4) there is substituted –

“(3)    However, the charge for a monthly season ticket in the case of an electric vehicle or plug in hybrid electric vehicle is £67.62 in the case of a parking place mentioned in paragraph (1) and £33.81 in the case of a parking place mentioned in paragraph (2) except where paragraph (4) applies.

(4)     In the case of an electric vehicle or plug in hybrid electric vehicle first registered in Jersey after 31st January 2018, no charge is payable for parking in a public parking place during the period of 12 months immediately after the date the vehicle is first registered in Jersey.

(5)     Paragraphs (3) and (4) apply to an electric vehicle or a plug in hybrid electric vehicle only if, when it is parked, there is displayed in it a document approved by the Minister for the purposes of this Order indicating that it is an electric vehicle or a plug in hybrid electric vehicle.”.

5        Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Public Parking Places – Charges) (Amendment No. 5) (Jersey) Order 2021 and comes into force on 1st March 2021.
