Road Traffic (Signs for Speed Limits) (Jersey) Order 2024

THE MINISTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE makes this Order under Articles 21(2) and 84 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956 after consulting the Connétables of St. Brelade, St. John and St. Lawrence –

1        Speed limits imposed by traffic signs

A person must not drive a motor vehicle on a road described in Article 2, 3 or 4 faster than the speed indicated by a traffic sign placed on the road in accordance with the Article.

2        Traffic signs for 30 mph speed limit

(1)     The Minister may place a traffic sign indicating a speed limit of 30 miles per hour on the following roads in St. Brelade –

(a)     La Montée du Sud Access Road (or La Pulente);

(b)     La Route de la Pulente (from La Montée du Sud Access Road (or La Pulente) to Le Mont de la Pulente);

(c)     La Rue de la Sergenté; and

(d)     Le Mont de la Pulente.

(2)     The Minister may place a traffic sign indicating a speed limit of 30 miles per hour on the following road in St. John – La Rue de Sorel (from La Rue du Grand Mourier to Sorel Point).

3        Traffic signs for 20 mph speed limit

(1)     The Minister may place a traffic sign indicating a speed limit of 20 miles per hour on the following roads in St. John –

(a)     La Route de St. Jean (from La Rue de la Mare Ballam to a point 35 metres west of La Route du Nord);

(b)     La Route des Issues (from each of its northern and southern junctions with La Rue de la Mare Ballam to a point 110 metres east of La Route du Mont Mado);

(c)     La Route du Mont Mado (from La Route des Issues to a point 75 metres east of La Rue des Clicquards);

(d)     La Route du Nord (between La Route de St. Jean and a point 110 metres north of La Rue de l’Etocquet);

(e)     La Rue de l’Église (from La Route du Nord to a point 20 metres east of the property Felindre);

(f)      La Rue de l’Etocquet (from La Rue du Cimetière to La Route du Nord);

(g)     La Rue de la Mare Ballam (from its southern junction with La Route des Issues to La Route de St. Jean);

(h)     La Rue de la Ville Guyon;

(i)      La Rue des Clicquards;

(j)      La Rue des Servais;

(k)     La Rue du Temple;

(l)      Le Clos de l’École;

(m)    Le Pré des Chênes;

(n)     Les Charrières de Bonne Nuit (from Les Nouvelles Charrières de Bonne Nuit for 156 metres in a northerly and then westerly direction);

(o)     Les Nouvelles Charrières de Bonne Nuit (from its junction with Bonne Nuit Bay Harbour Pier to a point 125 metres south of Les Charrières de Bonne Nuit);

(p)     Les Tuiles; and

(q)     St. John Village Precinct.

(2)     The Minister may place a traffic sign indicating a speed limit of 20 miles per hour on the following road in St. Lawrence – La Rue des Saints Germains.

4        Traffic signs for 15 mph speed limit

The Minister may place a traffic sign indicating a speed limit of 15 miles per hour on the following roads in St. John –

(a)     Mont Mado Lane; and

(b)     North View.

5        Citation, commencement and repeal

This Order –

(a)     may be cited as the Road Traffic (Signs for Speed Limits) (Jersey) Order 2024;

(b)     comes into force on 31st May 2024; and

(c)     is repealed on 17th June 2024.
