Artificial Insemination of Domestic Animals (Bovine Semen) (Amendment No. 3) (Jersey) Order 2019

THE MINISTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT makes this Order under Articles 7(1) and 32 of the Animal Health (Jersey) Law 2016[1] –

1        Amendment of Artificial Insemination of Domestic Animals (Bovine Semen) (Jersey) Order 2008

In the Artificial Insemination of Domestic Animals (Bovine Semen) (Jersey) Order 2008[2] –

(a)     in the definition “licence” in Article 1(1) after paragraph (b) there is inserted –

“but does not mean a licence permitting the importation of semen from another British Island under Article 38(bb);”;

(b)     in the following provisions for “foot and month” there is substituted “foot and mouth” –

(i)      in Article 10(3)(a),

(ii)      in Article 11(3),

(iii)     in Article 27(2)(a),

(iv)     in Article 29(a),

(v)     in Schedule 6, paragraph 3(a);

(c)     in Article 38 (importation of semen for artificial insemination) –

(i)      at the end of sub-paragraph (ba) “and” is deleted,

(ii)      after sub-paragraph (ba) there is inserted –

“(bb)  in the case of importation from another British Island, the importer or consignee holds a licence granted by the Minister permitting the importation of the semen; and”.

2        Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Artificial Insemination of Domestic Animals (Bovine Semen) (Amendment No. 3) (Jersey) Order 2019 and comes into force on 10th October 2019.
