Taxation of Costs – Factor ‘A’ Rates per Hour

The Bailiff has directed that, with effect from 1st July 2026, the applicable Factor ‘A’ Rates are as set out below: -

1.         Partners                                                                                             £355

2.         Qualified Lawyers (of more than 5 years PQE)                          £305

3.         Qualified Lawyers (with less than 5 years PQE)                        £260

4.         Paralegal Trainee/Solicitor or Barristers without pupillage        £225

5.         Paralegal without a law degree or studying for a law degree   £130

These rates shall be revised bi-annually (the first such change effective from

July 2028, based on the RPIx over the 24 months to March 2028).

On any taxation the Assistant Judicial Greffier may require to be satisfied that a person is a qualified lawyer in an appropriate jurisdiction.

Practice Direction RC 24/03 is therefore revoked with effect from 1 July 2026.
