Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (Turkey) (Jersey) Order 2019

1        Interpretation

In this Order –

“Law” means the Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (Jersey) Law 2019;

“Regulation (EU) 2019/1890” means Council Regulation (EU) 2019/1890 of 11 November 2019 concerning restrictive measures in view of Turkey’s unauthorised drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean (OJ L 291, 12.11.2019, p. 3), as amended, substituted, extended or applied from time to time by any other EU provision, or as that Regulation otherwise has effect in the EU from time to time by virtue of any judgment of the European Court.

2        Implementation of provisions of Regulation (EU) 2019/1890

(1)     A person listed in Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1890 is a designated person for the purpose of Part 3 of the Law.

(2)     The relevant EU provisions for the purpose of paragraph (3) are –

(a)     in relation to the granting of a licence under Article 16 of the Law, any provision of Regulation (EU) 2019/1890 that is a derogation from a prohibition imposed for a purpose falling within Article 3(6) of the Law; and

(b)     Articles 9 and 10 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1890.

(3)     The relevant EU provisions have effect as if they were enactments –

(a)     to any extent that they do not otherwise have effect in Jersey; and

(b)     subject to the modifications made by the general provisions that are to be read as part of this Order by virtue of the Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (General Provisions) (Jersey) Order 2019.

3        Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (Turkey) (Jersey) Order 2019 and comes into force on the day after it is made.
