(Births, Deaths and Missing Persons) (Jersey) Regulations 2015
1 Returns
relating to births and deaths by owners of aircraft
(1) The owner of an
aircraft registered in Jersey shall, as soon as practicable but not later than
6 months after the occurrence in any part of the world of a birth or death
in the aircraft, or of a death outside Jersey of a traveller on the aircraft
who is killed on the journey in consequence of an accident, transmit to the Registrar –
(a) a
return of such birth or death in the form, in accordance with the instructions,
and containing, so far as reasonably ascertainable, the particulars specified
in –
(i) Schedule 1
in the case of a birth, or
(ii) Schedule 2
in the case of a death; and
(b) in
the case of a death, a medical certificate or equivalent (if any) giving the
fact and cause of death in the form approved by the Superintendent Registrar.
(2) So far as practicable,
to facilitate the rendering of a return in accordance with this Regulation the
pilot in command of an aircraft registered in Jersey shall, as soon as
practicable, after the occurrence in any part of the world of a birth or death
in the aircraft, or of the death outside Jersey of a traveller in the aircraft
who is killed on the journey in consequence of an accident –
(a) record
in the journey log book or other appropriate documents relating to that
aircraft, the particulars of the birth or death mentioned in paragraph (1)(a);
and
(b) make
available to the owner of the aircraft –
(i) the record
mentioned in sub-paragraph (a), and
(ii) in
the case of a death, the medical certificate or equivalent (if any) mentioned
in paragraph (1)(b).
(3) Where any aircraft has
been bona fide demised, let, or hired out for a period exceeding 14 days
to any other person by the owner of the aircraft, and no pilot in command or
other pilot, navigator, or operative member of the crew of the aircraft is in
the employment of the owner, the provisions of this Regulation shall have
effect as though for references to the owner there were substituted references
to the person to whom the aircraft has been so demised, let, or hired out.
(4) Where a person, being a
person with respect to whom there are reasonable grounds for believing that
they have died in consequence of an accident to an aircraft registered in
Jersey is missing, paragraphs (1)(a)(ii), (2)(a) and (b)(i) and (3) as
they apply to a death of a person shall apply with regard to such missing
person.
2 Records
to be kept by the Registrar
The Registrar shall keep the following records of particulars
transmitted to the Registrar –
(a) a
separate record of births in the form set out in Schedule 3 in which shall
be recorded the particulars of births occurring in any part of the world in
aircraft registered in Jersey;
(b) a
separate record of deaths in the form set out in Schedule 4 in which shall
be recorded the particulars of deaths occurring in any part of the world in
aircraft registered in Jersey, and of deaths outside of Jersey of travellers on
such aircraft killed on the journey in consequence of an accident; and
(c) a
separate record of missing persons in the form set out in Schedule 5 in
which shall be recorded the particulars in respect of persons reported as missing
persons (being persons with respect to whom there are reasonable grounds for
believing that they have died in consequence of an accident to an aircraft
registered in Jersey).
3 Transmission
of copies of entries to the Superintendent Registrar
The Registrar shall within 7 days of the completion of an entry
in any record kept by the Registrar pursuant to these Regulations cause a
certified copy of such entry to be transmitted to the Superintendent Registrar.

5 Citation
These Regulations may be
cited as the Aircraft Registration (Births, Deaths and Missing Persons)
(Jersey) Regulations 2015.

“girl” as the case may be.

followed by surname; surname to be written in block letters. Both parents must sign the completed return as informants.
(f) Forenames in full
and married surname followed by the word “née” and the
maiden surname.
(g) The
informants’ names, relationship (if any) to the child and postal address
must be stated.
