MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION (GENERAL PROVISIONS) (AMENDMENT No. 6) (JERSEY) ORDER 1998

THE DEFENCE COMMITTEE, in pursuance of Articles 4, 7, 8, 10 and 15 of the Motor Vehicle Registration (Jersey) Law 1993,1 as amended,2 hereby orders as follows –

1.             In clause (iii) of paragraph (b) of Article 5 of the Motor Vehicle Registration (General Provisions) (Jersey) Order 1993,3 as amended4 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”), for the amount “£17” there shall be substituted the amount “£17.50”.

2.             In paragraph (1) of Article 16 of the principal Order, for the words “ten pounds” there shall be substituted the amount “£11”.

3.             In paragraph (2) of Article 18 of the principal Order, for the words “five pounds” there shall be substituted the amount “£5.50”.

4.             In Article 21 of the principal Order –

(a)     in sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (1), sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (2) and sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (4), for the amount “£56” there shall be substituted the amount “£57.50”; and

(b)     in sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (3), for the amount “£39” there shall be substituted the amount “£40”.

5.             In paragraph (b) of Article 23 of the principal Order, for the amount “£22” there shall be substituted the amount “£22.50”.

6.             In paragraph (2) of Article 28 of the principal Order –

(a)     the word “or” following sub-paragraph (b) shall be deleted and the following sub-paragraph inserted –

“(ba)    an agent or franchisee of the holder of the trade licence acting under his authority, or a bona fide employee of such an agent or franchisee acting under such authority; or’ ”

(b)     for the words following the words “testing or trying it” to the end of the paragraph there shall be substituted the words “on one or more occasions within a single period of seventy-two hours”.

7.             In the Second Schedule to the principal Order –

(a)     in sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph 4, for the amount “£276” there shall be substituted the amount “£283”;

(b)     in paragraph 5, for the amount “£56” there shall be substituted the amount “£57.50”; and

(c)     in sub-paragraph (2) of paragraph 6, for the amount “£22” there shall be substituted the amount “£22.50”.

8.             The Motor Vehicle Registration (General Provisions) (Amendment No. 5) (Jersey) Order 19975 is hereby revoked.

9.             This Order may be cited as the Motor Vehicle Registration (General Provisions) (Amendment No. 6) (Jersey) Order 1998 and shall come into force on the first day of January 1999.
