ROAD TRAFFIC (PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS) (AMENDMENT) (JERSEY) ORDER, 1983.

THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE, in pursuance of Articles 34A, 35 and 42 of the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law, 1956, as amended,1 hereby orders as follows:  -

1.             After the words “zebra crossing” at the end of paragraph (2) of Article 2 of the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) (Jersey) Order, 19822 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”) there shall be inserted the following words –

“, unless in the case of any particular crossing the Committee shall consider it unnecessary for the traffic signs referred to in Part II of the Second Schedule to be placed at or near that crossing”.

2.             In Part II of the Second Schedule to the principal Order after paragraph 3 there shall be inserted the following paragraph –

4.         This Part of this Schedule shall not apply where, in the case of any particular crossing the Committee shall consider it unnecessary for the traffic signs referred to in this Part of this Schedule to be placed at or near that crossing.”.

3.             A zebra crossing constituted prior to the commencement of this Order shall be deemed to have been properly constituted notwithstanding that traffic signs of the size, colour and type specified in Part II of the Second Schedule to the principal Order were not placed at or near such crossing.

4.             This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) (Amendment) (Jersey) Order, 1983 and shall come into force forthwith.
