Long-Term Care
Services (Health and Social Services Charges) (Jersey) Order 2014
1 Interpretation
In this Order “care home” and “group home”
have the same meaning as in the Long-Term Care (Benefits) (Jersey)
Order 2014.
2 Charges
for long-term care services[1]
Where long-term care services are provided to a person
aged 18 years or over in a care home or a group home of a level and
description specified in columns 1 and 2 of the table, the Minister
shall make and recover from the person a charge for the provision of those
services of the amount specified opposite such level and description
in –
(a) column 3,
for each week that such services are provided;
(b) column 4,
for each day during any period less than a week in which such services are
provided.

daily basis but can be left alone for periods of at least 3 hours
a day.

2A Charges
for continued occupation of hospital bed[2]
(1) The
Minister may charge a person for the provision of long-term care services in
hospital if the person –
(a) has
been recommended for discharge by a medical professional who is responsible for
their care;
(b) has been assessed by or on behalf of the
Minister as requiring long-term care services; and
(c) is
being provided with accommodation services elsewhere that meet their needs.
(2) The
charge is £502 for each complete period of 24 hours that the person
receives long-term care services in hospital after their recommended discharge.
3 Circumstances
in which charges do not apply[3]
The Minister shall not make and recover a charge from a person under
Article 2 or 2A if the person is detained under Article 21 or 22 of
the Mental Health (Jersey)
Law 2016.
4 Citation
This Order may be cited as the Long-Term Care Services (Health and
Social Services Charges) (Jersey) Order 2014.
